Red Empire available now

I am excited to release RED EMPIRE, the sequel to Unconquered Son (though you can read it out of order). I had such fun writing it, though I miss the characters dearly. I hope you will enjoy my latest epic fantasy novel.

Without further ado…

Red empireThe second book in the Imperial Chronicles, a series of related stand-alone novels.

Setting: The Empire
Time Period: circa 1049-1051 YE

“Trust no one. To survive to my age, you must judge men’s character well. Fear your enemies, yes. But fear your friends even more.”

With the death of Claudio-Valens Adamantus, many fear the golden age will come to an end. In the Imperial Palace, his wife Anthea struggles to survive conspiracies and assassinations. Her only ally is Melorra, priestess of the mother goddess, whose commitment to nonviolence may prove her undoing.

Though barbarians attack from beyond the northern wall and power-hungry councilors do their best to achieve the White Throne, the greatest threat may come from far away. Scarlet-cloaked refugees and their queen Lidda arrive on ships and defame the gods, proclaiming the Devil has been reborn on the Red Mountain.

The Empire’s only hope may lie in the cryptic words of Anthea’s dreams: “The blood of the god, and the body of adamant.”

The second novel of the Imperial Chronicles can be read as a stand-alone or as a continuation.

Fell Winter now free

Hi, blog readers. I have a big announcement to make. After some careful thought, I have decided to set Fell Winter to free. I’ve heard people having a lot of success with the free strategy, and since my visibility seems to be limited on some sites, I thought this would be a good way to gain readers. Also, people who buy Fell Winter tend to go on to the next ones, so I thought I’d accelerate the process. I thank each of you for following this blog, and hope you enjoy.

Please download… every one counts. Reviews are optional but greatly appreciated.

FELL WINTER

An evil not seen in hundreds of years has awoken in the highland nation of Badelgard. The Ulfr – the original inhabitants of the land whose evil was matched only by their power over death – stir from their barrows.

The dead walk again at the command of an Ulfr witch. The fate of the High King and the possession of the High Throne grow more and more uncertain. Tensions flare between the lowborn commoners and the highborn descendants of the Seven Wardens.

In the middle of it all, the lowborn musician Brand Gutlaffson is thrust into a perilous chase thanks to the foolish decisions of his friend, the warrior Gunnar Whoreson. Their midnight flight takes them to the accursed land of Blackfold, where the ancient Ulfr goddess waits for Her awakening.

The cold begins to set in. But there is more to fear than darkness and snow in this FELL WINTER.

UNCONQUERED SON: Coming June 2013

Unconquered SonAfter a bit of blog silence (writing under another name) I’m back with great news. My new novel, UNCONQUERED SON, will be available in June 2013.

The Empire teeters on the brink of collapse. A hedonistic teen assumes the throne under false pretenses while a slave rebellion erupts in the north. The southern King of Kings, sensing weakness, sets his eyes on his vulnerable foe.

In the midst of the growing tumult, a young man from the Empire’s hinterlands grudgingly heads to Imperial City. There, Claudio-Valens sees firsthand the weak, treasonous Imperial Council that aids foreign enemies, and finds himself at the center of the fight to save the country he loves.

What follows is a tale of desert queens and legionaries, of mad girls with great gifts and scheming highborn ladies, of gods both human and divine, that will forever transform the world they know.

I’m still making tweaks to the cover, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up!

Enchanted Forest, Volume 1 — now complete

I’m happy to announce that the first volume (episodes 1 to 5) of Enchanted Forest is now complete, available for purchase at all ebook vendors (except Smashwords… the slow reporting and slow uploading procedures currently frustrate me to no end, but I’ll get around to it soon).

Sales on this series started out (very) tepid, but are slowly picking up. Go forth, buy, and read, and give me the encouragement to start Volume 2! My mind brims with ideas for more episodes.

The first episode is free on Kobo.

I also made a profile of Kalamar, for those interested.

The next episode – Enchanted Forest #4

Even in Varda, people take time to celebrate the dark, frightening aspects of existence. In time for Halloween, here is the fourth episode of the Enchanted Forest series, “Hagflight.”

Ep. 4: Hagflight

The festival of All Hallows comes to Kalamar. Norgs don masks to honor Dibbhal, the Bogey Man. Meanwhile, Pirosha’s friend Imowyn notices the full moon, shining bright.

She promptly informs him that whenever All Hallows and a full moon coincide, a fascinating astrological event called the Hagflight can be seen in the sky from the top of Mount Doogan. But bogeys, malevolent spirits from the dark side of Faerie, stalk the shadowy path that leads to it.

“Episode 5: Invasion” and the omnibus will arrive in November.
